At Herring's House Park (on the west side of the Duwamish River) today:
- Four pigeon Guillemots about half way between the park shoreline and the
pilings (that have Kevin Li's purple martin gourds).
- I think I observed one of the osprey taking a quick bath! It stood in
shallow water in the area near the gourds, then totally dunked itself a
couple of times, then did a bit of grooming, shook itself off and began to
fly again. Continued to shake itself as it flew. Did not appear to be
hunting for fish at the time.

I like this park, because I can almost always count on something unexpected
if I hang around long enough. A young heron has recently been hanging out at
the mouth of the restoration site.

Question, if the two ospreys hang around the nest, but there is not
continually an osprey on the nest, what does that indicate about the presence
or lack of eggs/chicks?

I saw and enjoyed the bear story from Pine Lake on TV! Thanks for alerting
us.
