I no longer take my Peterson's into the field, but I still refer to
it occasionally for his notes on bird calls or habitat. I do agree
that it is a good choice (of many) for beginners.
As for future editions, I guess that depends on who takes over as
editor. After all, the other non-bird books in the Peterson Field
Guide series have done just fine through the years.
