There's an old English folk song called "The Lark in Morning". I've got it by Fairport Convention, and it's one of my favorite tunes.

"The Way I Feel" (I can't remember the performer), has a verse about how the mother robin is so sad when her young have left the nest - there's someone who hadn't studied the subject.
