No dead chicks have been found, but the latest report is that the parents
are circling, confused, over the crane with prey in their talons to bring to
the nest. I think the chicks are dead.

Lauren: were the chicks or their parents harmed in this incident? It isn't
clear from your post whether the nest *and* chicks were destroyed, or just
the nest.

Subject: HELP! OSPREY nest DESTROYED in south Seattle!!!

Dear Tweeters,

Last night, sometime between 5:30pm and 6am this morning, the Osprey nest
containing four chicks in south Seattle was destroyed! This nest is located
at 10013 Martin Luther King Way South, near Boeing Field. The nest was
constructed this year, on an unused Crane. The property of the nest is
owned by a construction company, and I have been alerted to the nest
destruction by office workers in a nearby building who have enjoyed watching
these birds create their home and raise their family there this year.
Needless to say, everyone is absolutely heartbroken, and shocked that
someone would do such a thing. The motivation is unclear at this time - the
crane has not been used for a year and a half, and the chicks will probably
be fledging soon anyway!

If you have ANY information with regards to this particular nest, who should
be alerted about this crime, etc., please contact me immediately at the
number or email below. I have already contacted the Washington Department
of Fish and Wildlife's main number, who took my contact info, but they have
not gotten back to me yet.

Thank you for any help you can provide!
