Okay, I can't resist. I have to jump in here. Two songs by the Grateful
Dead reference birds not often mentioned in music:

"Eyes of the World"

"Wondering where the nuthatch wintered
Wings a mile long
Just carried the bird away"

"Unbroken Chain"

"Lilac rain, unbroken chain, Song of the sawhet owl.
Out on the mountain, it'll drive you insane, Listening to the winds howl"

And one more tune just for good measure:

"Sugar Magnolia"

"Sometimes when the cuckoo's crying, when the moon is half way down,
Sometimes when the night is dying, I take me out and I wander around, I
wander
'round."

Cheers,

Peter Gabriel, "Solsbury Hill"
Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing stretching every nerve
Had to listen had no choice
I did not believe the information
[I] just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom boom
"Son," he said "Grab your things,
I've come to take you home."
And I know you said "especially rock songs," but there are some incredible
classical works about birds, such as The Firebird Suite -- Stravinsky, and
Swan Lake -- Tchaikovsky. And how about the wonderful bird and duck themes
in Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf?"

HI ALL:
I just heard Bobby Day's "Rockin' Robin" on the radio. I was wondering if
anyone knows other songs about birds (especially rock songs)?
