Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday July 11. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

On July 6 a ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK visited a feeder in McMinnville.

Shorebird migrations are rapidly increasing. During the week SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPERS were reported from the Delta Park Ponds in North Portland, on the
North Spit of Coos Bay, and at Hatfield Lake near Bend. A female RING-NECKED
DUCK with seven young was on the North Spit of Coos Bay July 8. BLUE-WINGED
TEAL remain regularly seen but the males are now going into eclipse and will
soon be unidentifiable. BLUE-WINGED TEAL families were seen during the week
at Smith Lake in North Portland, at the Fernhill Wetlands, and in Eugene.

On July 3 a GOSHAWK was in the mountains northwest of Brookings. On July 8
large flocks of RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, several RUDDY TURNSTONES, and an
ANCIENT MURRELET were off Boiler Bay. Large SOOTY SHEARWATER flocks are now
being seen all along the coast. A male LESSER GOLDFINCH was at Lincoln City
July 5.

Five WHITE PELICANS are now on Smith Lake in North Portland. On July 4 an
adult GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW was in Portland's Forest Park. A flock of
REDHEADS is summering on Force Lake in Delta Park and up to 5 WESTERN
KINGBIRDS are summering along Marine Drive at the Portland Airport.

On July 3 a pair of WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were near Sisters.

Thats it for this week.
