Tweeters,

A pair of Vermilion Flycatchers were reported from Fort Simcoe (west of
Toppenish) July 5, observed by Margaret Lead and Maureen O'Brien. This news
was received by Phil Mattocks on July 10. He passed on the sighting to Denny
Granstrand and myself in Yakima a short time late. Within an hour, Yakima
birders John Hebert and Richard Repp were out there searching, but had no
luck. It was hot out there while they were birding.

We now have more specifics on where these birds were, just in case anybody
want to help in this search. It was a cooker today here. I don't know what
the official high temp was in Yakima, various car thermometers showed as
high as 109 F.

Good luck and stay cool,

Andy Stepniewski
