Columbia Estuary Report - 7/14/2002

A alternate adult plumage SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was with
about 200 WESTERN and 75 LEAST SANDPIPERS at the Necanicum
Estuary this afternoon. I spent a few minutes trying to
turn the SEMI SNAD into a Little Stint and a very rufous-
hooded Western had me going for a while, too. There were
also about 50 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS around.

I saw my first hatch-year CASPIAN TERN of the season at the
Necanicum on Friday.

A MOURNING DOVE was at Camp Rilea this morning, presumably
one of the three or so that have been hanging around near the
Astoria Golf Club.
