I'm going to get flamed for this, I can just feel
it....

Geese were here before (all migratory), and the
problem isn't entirely our maintained lawn habitats.
It started with the introduction from NON-MIGRATORY
populations and the fact that humans have eliminated
predators for urban geese hasn't helped either. When
you remove large predators from ecosystems, thats what
happens. With 40,000 resident geese in the Puget
Sound area and each goose pooping half its weight
every day, thats a lot of goose crap. Geese here are
a problem and Wayne's suggestion I don't see as a
viable alternative for controlling their numbers. It
merely moves them elsewhere. On the same token,
changing human affinity for lawn isn't going to happen
either, and I don't see many goose predators being
able to survive in our urban environment. Geese are a
real problem. So far euthanization is the most humane
answer I have heard.
