Hello Birders,

I visited Wenatchee Confluence park about 5:30 PM Saturday July
13. Dave Beaudette's directions led me directly to the bird. Well, I
didn't go direct, the first parking lot is on the right Before the driveup
sign-in building, I parked at the first lot on the right After that
building. There was an Osprey on the nest on top of the railroad bridge
over the Wenatchee River, just upstream from the bicycle/walking
bridge. The 'Confluence Wetlands' overlook is the third overlook along the
paved path, almost behind the radio towers. The bird was easily visible
from the overlook, maybe 100 feet to the southeast, well before the next
power pole.
I mention this detail because the several Mourning Doves, the Ringed
Turtle Dove, and the Eurasian Collared Dove that are present all fly down
from the power lines into the chokecherries, and stay awhile, then fly back
up to the power lines for awhile. When I arrived Mourning Doves were on
the line, then the Ringed Turtle Dove flew in, and I looked down to write
some notes. When I looked back up there was the Collared Dove beside
them. Since the birds were somewhat above me on the line, the various
field marks are easy to see: belly, under tail coverts, primaries, spread
tail pattern, etc. At about 6:30PM they all flew down, stayed longer than
usual, and I left.
Dave Beaudette told me that the Turtle Dove was there last year until
Sept, then reappeared this April, and has been present since.

Good Birding,
