Today my family and I did a combination art-museum and birding trip. Where is such a thing possible? Blaine!

WARNING: THIS PARAGRAPH IS NOT ABOUT BIRDS, BUT ABOUT THE ART EXHIBIT: There are five railroad cars (yes, railroad cars) full of artwork at a siding right by the bay there near Peace Arch. The artwork is about NASA's space program. It is a free exhibit (donation requested). They have a Warhol, a Norman Rockwell, a Peter Max, and a lot of other cool art, some of which is very sixties. Kids get to do a scavenger hunt. They also have a museum car where you get to spend money.

BIRD PARAGRAPH: Then you walk down to the little park with the orca statues and bird! We happened to be there around four in the afternoon, which was a perfect shorebird tide. Now, I have always resolutely ignored tide charts, because I have often found shorebirds during "wrong" tides and missed them during "right" tides. Still, Blaine shorebirding is poor if the tide is wrong, so you might want to check your tables. The exhibit is on all weekend. Today there were Western Sandpipers, unidentified yellowlegs (I had no scope), a Spotted Sandpiper, a lot of Killdeer, around ten Semipalmated Plover, two Caspian Terns, a California Gull, tons of Glaucous-winged Gulls (and some hybrid-looking ones) and even a House Finch!
