This is the Vancouver Bird Alert for Friday July 19th, evening update
sponsored in part by the Wild Birds Unlimited Stores in Vancouver
and North Vancouver.

The feature bird is BAIRD'S SANDPIPER

Sightings for Friday, July 19

Fall shorebirding is now in full swing. On the afternoon hightide at
Iona Island in the Inner Ponds the following shorebirds were reported: 2500
WESTERN
SANDPIPERS, 30 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 250 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 1 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPER, 33 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 2 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 6 KILLDEERS &
1 GREATER YELLOWLEGS.

There were no reports for Thursday or Wednesday.

Tuesday, July 16

Lily Point in Point Roberts Washington had the following species:
2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS, 2 CASPIAN TERNS, 3 PIGEON GUILLEMOTS
and 1 LONG-TAILED DUCK.

Monday, July 15

At the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty Compensation Lagoon were 3 BLACK
OYSTERCATCHERS including 1 juvenile and 74 CASPIAN TERNS.

In Surrey in a yard near 144th Street and 16th Ave was a male ANNA'S
HUMMINGBIRD.

At Jericho Park in the Pond were 3 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS
