Sightings for Saturday, July 20

On Second Pump Peak near the top of Mt Seymour a GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-
FINCH was discovered today.

Fall shorebirding got better and better today on the afternoon
hightide. At the foot of 104th Street just east along the dyke a full
breeding
plumaged RUDDY TURNSTONE was found amongst a small flock of BLACK-BELLIED
PLOVERS. Also here were good numbers of WESTERN SANDPIPERS and 1 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPER.

At Iona Island Sewage Ponds the afternoon hightide brought very high
numbers of peeps. There were 7-8000 WESTERN SANDPIPERS, 50 SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPERS including 5 juvenile birds, 500 LEAST SANDPIPERS including 2
juveniles, 40 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 1 GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, 1 SPOTTED SANDPIPER and 7 KILLDEER.

Friday, July 19

Fall shorebirding is now in full swing. On the afternoon hightide at
Iona Island in the Inner Ponds the following shorebirds were reported: 2500
WESTERN
SANDPIPERS, 30 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 250 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 1 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPER, 33 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 2 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 6 KILLDEERS &
1 GREATER YELLOWLEGS.

There were no reports for Thursday or Wednesday.

Tuesday, July 16

Lily Point in Point Roberts Washington had the following species:
2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS, 2 CASPIAN TERNS, 3 PIGEON GUILLEMOTS
and 1 LONG-TAILED DUCK.
