So far the responses to this thread have commented favorably on Polaroid
Sprintscan scanners. I also have an older model Polaroid, and have been
very pleased with it. However, in a recent upgrade to a new computer
running Windows XP Professional, I found out that Polaroid has not
upgraded its software for XP, and has no plans to do so. I don't know if
this is the result of a deliberate planned obsolescence policy to force
customers to buy a new model, or part of cutbacks due to Polaroid's
reported financial instability. But the lack of support and risky postion
of the company are enough to make me feel it's not the best idea to buy or
to recommend Polaroid right now.
