HI ALL:
I saw the segment on video/DVD on Ebert and Roeper movie reveiws last
night and they showed scenes from the movie including a scene at a library
where the actors are looking at the rare bird (in this case a fictitious
duck)in the book. The book is Birds of America edition by Pearson (1936).
The plate is one of Louis A. Fuertes's from the Birds of New York by Eaton
(reprinted in this volume). The plate was originally of the Common
(American) Goldeneye that has been altered with a Harlequin ducks head
added and a long thin curved-backed crest also added. SO I guess we now
have the Crested Goldenquin or Harleeye!
