Hi Ian,
You should never have gotten me started!
Besides the obvious Pigeon Wigeon, there are all those other hybreds like The Night Kite, the House Grouse, the Ruby Booby and the Tripe Snipe (How did THAT happen!)
One local favorite is the Ballard Mallard, plus all of the more "descriptive" names for new species:
Lawn Swan, Cider Eider, Regal Eagle, Frail Quail, Pleasant Pheasant, Trail Rail, Plain Crane, Skillit Willet (very heavy for it's size)
And that's just through the shorebirds!
Thanks! -Rolan

To follow up on last week's question about bird artists. One oldtime bird
(and tree) artist Rex Brasher came up. I thought too bad he didn't have a
species of thrasher named after him and then it would be: Brasher's
Thrasher! So I was wondering what other rhyming bird names could be made
up? Before the resplit you could have had Boreal Oriole!
