Well here in Gibsons this year we have had a bumper crop.(Rufous) They arrived
about April 4 and never left but multiplied and are still around. Usually they
move on after a week or so.Not so this year. Our theory is the weather was bad
further North at the time so they stuck around. We have five feeders up (8 oz)
and fill two a day. This hot weather they are scarce during the day but start
showing up in the late afternoon. At one point some males showed up and I think
the nesting restarted. It has been an unusual year. When we have had one or two
around all season by early August they seem to disappear. We will be interested
to see how it works this year.
