Hummingbirds follow the bloom of the flowers as it moves up the
mountains, so many of your birds are now feeding in the wildflower
meadows at higher altitudes. Check those areas near you that are above
4,000 feet right now where it is still early in the wildflower bloom
cycle. Places like Bird Creek Meadows on Mt. Adams or the open flower
meadows of the Olympics, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker, etc. in August are
great birding spots and nice spots to escape the heat.
