Your male rufous hummers are headed down here now -- the first showed
up right on schedule on July 15. He was trying to evict our
half-dozen Black-chinned and Broad-tailed from the feeder, but they quickly
caught on to his bluff and now ignore his pugilism. He would come
screaming at them and they would give him this look like a Jack Benny
double-take -- "I can't believe he's that dumb!"

I noticed today there are now 4 rufous males and immature males and
probably six of other species. Our 30 ounce feeder is now lasting almost
two days!

Our first Calliope showed up on July 8, but then moved on to better
pickings.
