A single EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE has been hanging around Confluence State
Park in Wenatchee WA First seen by Dave Beaudette on 11July. It's hanging
around Mourning Doves and a Ringed Turtle-Dove. To get there, from US 2 at
Wenatchee, eastbound or westbound, follow signs to the state park. Park in
the first parking lot which will be on the right. Walk the asphalt trail
south, go over the bridge over the Wenatchee River. Continue south on the
asphalt path for about 0.25 mile to the interpretive station titled
"Confluence Wetlands". The doves were on power lines about 200 feet south of
here, dropping down to feed on chokecherries.

To clarify, the crackle reported by Bob Flores last week in Othello, Adams
Co WA was a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE. The grackle reported earlier in July by
Randy Hill was a COMMON GRACKLE. The Great-tailed was at the corner of 7th
and Ash in Kiwanis Park last week. This bird is a real rascal, constantly on
the move, so a diligent search may be necessary.

An UPLAND SANDPIPER, thought to be extirpated as a breeder from eastern WA,
was found near Spokane, Spokane Co WA on 6 July by Warren Hall, later by Jim
Acton. Many observers saw it this past week. Look for the bird at several
locations along Deno Road within the first mile west of Hayford Road (T25N,
R41E, S12 and 13). This is north of the Spokane Raceway, and a transmission
line transects the area. The location this individual has been seen is along
the public roads. However, it flies out into extensive grassland which is 1)
private property, and 2) may possibly be the site of a nesting attempt. So
please, please look for this bird only along and from the public roads. This
individual has also been very quick to leave a perch (roadside fence post or
distant power pole) in response to disturbance. WA DeLorme 88, C-4.

On 24 and 27 July, a RUDDY TURNSTONE was at Columbia NWR, Grant Co WA, at
Migraine Lake according to Randy Hill. The lake is visible from the Soda
Lake Dam. Take WA 262 to the east end of O'Sullivan Dam which forms Potholes
Reservoir and go south about 2.5 miles, then turning left and going another
0.25 mile. WA DeLorme 53, A-6.

A single WHITE-FACED IBIS was at McCain's ponds north of Othello, Adams Co
WA on 21 July according to Bob Flores. It was seen again on 26 July by Steve
Mlodinow. The bird was seen from the top of the hill along Broadway just
before it becomes McManoman Road. Just as you are leaving Othello and before
you start down hill pull off on the large flat area towards the railroad
tracks. Use your scope and search the east ponds, it was forging out in the
open. WA DeLorme 53, B-7.
