I want to thank the Tweeter's birders for the restraint that they
showed in the attempts to see the Upland Sandpiper on Deno Road in
Spokane. Very few people even tried to secure permission to enter my
in-laws property to search for the bird. We wished to limit the
disturbance to a sensitive species which exhibited breeding behavior and
an aversion to people. And yes my wife and I also did not enter the area
although we have the keys to the gates as we would not want to chase the
bird or birds off of their nesting grounds even though it would have been
a "State bird" for us.
