Tweets - this afternoon my daughter and I went canoeing at Marymoor Park and the north end of Lake Sammamish - I, of course, brought my binoculars. It's a bit hard to bird from canoe, especially when your daughter is having fun. But there were some things to see:

Green Heron 2-3, along slough
Blue-winged Teal 5 at north end of lake
Osprey At least 2 fishing over lake
Bald Eagle* Adult and 3? young
Spotted Sandpiper 1 along slough, 1 on north shore

* I had heard that a BALD EAGLE nest was visible from the lake, which spurred the trip. I was unable to conclusively locate the nest, though I have my suspicions. Two or three young balds were in one tree, but an adult eagle flew to a different tree - one which looked more likely as a nest tree. I may have to wait until fall to verify. The presence of young birds indicates likely nesting success in the park again.
