On July 12, there was a GREAT EGRET in the Yakima River in the vicinity of
the Chamna Preserve seen by Ruth Fischer.

Mike and MerryLynn Denny reported the continued presence of a SNOWY EGRET
and a WHITE-FACED IBIS on July 13 at the ponds behind Iowa Beef. These
ponds are accessed by a dirt road beyond the Iowa Beef plant on Dodd-Iowa
Road off Route 12 near Wallula.

Jack & Murrel Dawson reported a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE at the Arid Lands Ecology
Reserve along Route 240 at the 117 Gate on July 25. At their Benton City
home, they have a family of 6 CHUKAR and 12 to 14 HORNED LARKS that visit
the watered lawn.

At the Iowa Beef ponds on July 27, Bob and Charlie Woodley relocated the
SNOWY EGRET and observed many typical shorebirds. They also found a BARN
OWL in the Chamna Preserve. On July 28, they observed a WESTERN TANAGER, 3
OSPREY, 1 SWAINSON'S HAWK, a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, and 2 HOUSE WRENS in WE
Johnson Park in Richland.

Today at the Yakima Delta, the water is finally down resulting in a few
shorebirds. Hopefully more will be arriving soon. Nancy LaFramboise found
1 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 3 BLACK-NECKED STILTS and several KILLDEER.
