While showing out-of-town visitors some of the sights in Skagit County
Saturday, I was a bit surprised to find an imm. GOLDEN EAGLE just opposite
the town of La Conner on the Swinomish Reservation. This species tends to
be rare in the Skagit lowlands, and is most often found in migration or
winter. Also, we had a PEREGRINE soaring over our house in Lake Stevens in
the morning, only our second record and not expected in June. Then, on May
29, we had a new yard bird, a calling overflight COMMON LOON, #114 at our
place.
