This is the Vancouver Bird Alert for Saturday June 3rd, evening update,
sponsored in part by the Wild Birds Unlimited stores in Vancouver and North
Vancouver.

Rare bird alert for a SNOWY EGRET in Victoria.

Sightings for Monday, June 3

There is a report of a SNOWY EGRET in the Victoria area. Please call the
Victoria Alert at 250-592-3381 for further details.

Two CHIPPING SPARROWS were reported today. One was observed at Cecil Green
Park and another at Iona. Also at Iona were 2 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS and 2
WILSON'S PHALAROPE.

A GRAY CATBIRD was seen in bushes south of a 50km traffic sign on Neaves Rd.
before the last bend in the road leading to Grant Narrows RP. A total of 16
TURKEY VULTURES were seen as a group on the ground on the west side of
Neaves Rd. They were on the north west side of the first farm buildings
north of McNeill Rd.

A female PURPLE MARTIN was observed perched on a nest box at Blackie Spit.

Sunday, June 2

A GRAY CATBIRD was seen along the Nature Dike at Grant Narrows. The bird was
in an Alder south of a group of dead trees several 100 meters in from the
parking lot. There is a Wood Duck Box on one of these trees. Of interest
near the top of this tree is an active RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER nest hole.
Also seen along the dike was an EASTERN KINGBIRD.

At Point Roberts were 30 BRANT and a PACIFIC LOON.

>From the Iona Jetty came the unusual report of a WINTER WREN.

Three AMERICAN PIPITS were seen and heard in over-flight near Burnaby's
Lougheed Mall.

Saturday, June 1

Reported from Grant Narrows RP were a GRAY CATBIRD, 2 AMERICAN BITTERN, 3
EASTERN KINGBIRDS and a possible GOLDEN EAGLE.

In the Guildford area of Surrey was a COMMON NIGHTHAWK.

Friday, May 31

At Serpentine Fen in Surrey was a REDHEAD.

Thursday, May 30th

At Grant Narrows Park in Pitt Meadows, there were the following birds: An
ALDER FLYCATCHER, an AMERICAN REDSTART and a DUSKY FLYCATCHER. Nearby, at a
bend in the road leading to Grant Narrows was a GRAY CATBIRD. In the Pitt
Meadows area were a total of 12 TURKEY VULTURES. A further 5 TURKEY VULTURES
were seen at Kerr Street and Marine Drive in Vancouver.

In a late report from Cheam Wetlands for May 29th, there was a LEAST
FLYCATCHER, an EASTERN KINGBIRD and a LAZULI BUNTING on Seabird Island.

Wednesday, May 29th

At Iona were 5 WILSON'S PHALAROPES at the ponds, a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE and at
the north end of the corridor between the inner and outer ponds, there was a
VEERY. Also here was a DUSKY FLYCATCHER.

At the northwest side of Queen Elizabeth Park was a LAZULI BUNTING. Another
2 LAZULI BUNTINGS were at Gunn Road, west of Mission.
