Mark this one on your calendar. Tonight, we have just seen the first stilt
chick ever born in BC.

Several of us have been monitoring a nest at Kamloops, and tonight, Dave
Whiting saw one chick with the parents. We think there were 4 eggs, so more
may arrive yet.

This is a very exciting moment for us, as we have been fearful of marauding
cats, smallboys with slingshots and other predators at this nest site which
is beside a busy highway and mobile home park. Looks as if the stilts beat
the odds.
