Saturday, 6/8/02, I birded Spencer Island with my brother-in-law, visiting
from Oregon. Our 48 species of birds observed included:
Yellow-headed Blackbird- saw 1 male and heard others
Osprey-1 or 2
American Bittern- 3 in flight at once
Short-billed Dowitcher- 1
Pileated Woodpecker- relatively easy to see at Spencer, but always fun
Black Swift-1 bird flew low over our heads
Cedar Waxwings- everywhere there, too
Bufflehead-2
Purple Martin- 2 males and 1 female
Later in the day a GREEN HERON flew over as we were driving onto I90 at
Front Street in Issaquah.
It was a good day
