Went back to relocate the Alder flycatcher I had found yesterday. Upon arrival I met up with Scott Downs who had heard the bird but had not seen it just before I arrived. We, along with Teri Pieper, went to the thicket I had seen it in yesterday. When we got close we all heard the bird singing the "wee bew" song. When we moved in and viewed the bird it changed it's song primarily calling "wee-pit" that I had heard yesterday. The bird used this call while we were around only calling "wee bew" occassionally. We got great looks often at two yards and one time I had it a yard from me. I did get some decent photos as the sun was out. We finally left, before we had a chance to look for the Phily vireo because of the strong rain that began.

I would like to clarify directions. From the main road in Ritzville take Division St. toward the Cemetary. Marcelous veers right off Division. After several miles at the county line there is a "Y" in the road, take the right arm (Rocky Ford Rd). Stay on Rcky Ford to the main stem of Crab Creek. Bird the North side. The Alder is in the first large patch, when you get to the Riparian Fence along the thicket listen for the bird. THe Alder likes to sit up on the top of two trees in the thicket. It also forges low around the thicket and this is when it would work it's way past us at close distance.
