Tweets,
This morning, Sunday June 9th, I hiked through the Nature
Conservancy property at Foulweather Bluff, Kitsap County. At the beach there
I scoped the canal for birds and noticed a flock of approx 75 -100 Surf
Scoters in a tight group diving and just enjoying themselves. In all the
trips I have made to this location (monthly) I have never seen so many SS
this time of the year. Usually they are on the outer coast and perhaps a
little north breeding and return about mid- September or later. Except for
an occasional Common Loon, Pigeon Guillemots (many) and Marbled Murrelets
(always paired up) this area of Hood Canal is generally quiet this time of
the year.

Good birding,
Doug Watkins
