Subject: Cuckoos and tent caterpillars

HI ALL:
I wonder if the now extirpated Yellow-billed Cuckoo from the northwest
was common enough to help keep the tent caterpillars under control? Are
there any historical records of tent caterpillar "out-breaks" from when
the cuckoos were here?
