Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday June 13. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On June 6 a LEAST TERN was seen at Mann Lake, north of Fields. On June 7 an
ORCHARD ORIOLE was at the pond along Highway 20 west of Riley. A
YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER and a REDSTART were at Malheur NWR Headquarters June
8. A COMMON GRACKLE was in Jordan Valley June 10.

On June 6 an EASTERN PHOEBE was near Rocky Point on the west side of Upper
Klamath Lake.

On June 6 a HUDSONIAN GODWIT and two MARBLED GODWITS were along Farmer Road
east of Baskett Slough NWR. The godwits and a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE were
there June 8.

ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS were reported during the week from NW Portland,
Roseburg, and Yachats.

On June 7 over 50 BLACK SWIFTS and a VEERY were at New River, south of
Bandon. The next day over 15 BLACK SWIFTS were over Florence.

On June 6 six MARBLED GODWITS, 52 WHIMBRELS, a GREATER YELLOWLEGS and two
FRANKLIN'S GULLS were at Yaquina Bay. A GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 13 WHIMBRLS, and
21 MARBLED GODWITS were along Wireless Road near Astoria June 11.

RED-EYED VIREOS are again back at Smith/Bybee Lakes in north Portland. The
MOCKINGBIRD around SE 93d. and Woodstock in Portland has been seen several
times during the week.

On June 12 a BLACK TERN was at the Mollala Sewage Ponds. Two EARED GREBES
were on Morgan at Baskett Slough NWR June 11. The GRASSHPPER SPARROW
continues to be seen at Morgan Lake and another is now in the first right
field as you enter Finley NWR from Highway 99. A pair of BLACK PHOEBES
appear to be nesting this summer along the Willamette River south of Dayton.
Several NIGHTHAWKS are also in the area.

An adult male ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRD was caught and banded 17 miles west of
Grants Pass June 10.
