On 13 June, Roger Johnson and me birded a route through Douglas and Grant
Counties. Here are the highlights:

>From the bridge over the Columbia River at Brewster we headed up Central
Ferry Canyon Rd, Douglas County. Coming from Brewster, just after you cross
the bridge [ SR 173], turn right and look for Central Ferry Canyon signs.

Ken Knittle's Least Flycatcher..singing in the poplar thicket just uphill
from end of the pavement.
Singing Brewer's Sparrows, Yellow-breasted Chats and Lazuli Buntings along
the road below the Ponderosa Pine forest.
Two Red-naped Sapsuckers, about 10 Pygmy Nuthatchs, and a singing Cassin's
Vireo in Ponderosa Pine forest around the Packwood Cemetary near the top of
the canyon.

At Ephrata, Grant County
Common Grackle...one male near the intersection of 7 Ave SW and D ST SW. The
bird was perched on a poweline over the road and on a tall blue spruce. Bill
Tweit reported a pair here on June 3. The spruce is just north of the
intersection, two houses down on the left.

Least Flycatcher...one singing in the tall shade trees around the picnic
shelter at Lions Park. This park is at Park Way Blvd and 7 Ave SW.
