Hi Tweets,

This afternoon the Yellow House Finch paid another visit to the Red-hot
Pokers. Since the first time I saw him, I've paid closer attention to the
other House Finches that visit, and in particular, paid careful attention to
their size. That was the one thing I couldn't reconcile in my mind. I just
remember the yellow one to be bigger, probably because seeing him initially,
I thought he was the female Bullock's Oriole who returns to the pokers every
20 minutes or so, like clockwork. But he's not. He's exactly the same size as
the other House Finches, though this time, he seemed more yellow than before.
Probably the sunlight. Seems a lot of others have seen this yellow variant
before, but for me, he was a new one. Thanks again to all who responded and
helped me learn about this bird.

On another topic, I seem to have a Northern Flicker in my yard who is taking
great delight in harassing two Red-breasted Sapsuckers. The Sapsuckers are
industriously pecking away in order to feed their little ones. I've not seen
this type of behavior before, but the Flicker is really being aggressive, and
everything out there is yacking away. I just love seeing something new every
day.
