Checked out the probable Alder Flycatcher that Patrick Sullivan found along
Kipling Road just north of Muskrat Lake, in Okanogan County.
The many Willow Flycatchers present provided a very nice comparison to the
distinctive song and call notes of the Alder. When I heard the Alder give
those peep notes
while the Willows were giving their whit calls, I couldn't
believe my luck. The songs of the Alder were very distinctly emphasized on
the second part: "ree-BEER". I was able to hear the Alder over and over and
over again. I noted that by 730 AM the Alder and the Willows began calling
less.
Tried to record the Alder on my cassette tape recorder with built in
micophone
but so many birds singing-it didn't turn out. Any ideas on a good economy
setup to
record birds would be appreciated.
