Chris & Fred Simonen observed a family of LOGGERHEAD SHRIKES along Hatch
Grade Road near Wallula Junction on June 9. Adults were feeding at least 2
young.

On June 12, Nancy LaFramboise and Ruth Fischer found several GRAY CATBIRDS
along Demoss Road in Benton City.

Jim and Annet Dittmer reported at least 8 young BURROWING OWLS at the
WalMart in Kennewick on June 13.

At McNary NWR, Chris Simonen observed an AMERICAN COOT with young on June 14.

An AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN remains near the bridge into West Richland on Van
Giesen Road as reported by Barbara Dove on June 14. There is concern about
the condition of this bird as it does not leave the area.

Dennis Johnson had a late ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER in his Richland yard on
June 15.

A bit afar but always great to see, an adult BALD EAGLE was observed by
Joseph Shredow on June 15 at Long Lake near the Stevens county boat launch.

Also on June 15, Jim & Alison Timmons had 3 TURKEY VULTURES over their West
Richland home.

Be on the lookout for a MAGPIE WITH A YELLOW BILL which has been seen three
times along Rt 395 between Sagemoor and Selph Landing Roads by Erik and Jon
Mundall. Yellow-billed Magpies are not known to occur outside of
California where they are only west of the Sierras. Black-billed Magpies
have been known to have yellow bills. Photos will be necessary to
accurately document this bird. If you are able to relocate this bird
please call the alert immediately.

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number and
sightings after the tone. Thank you.
