The literature I have read from the WDFW regarding Sharp-tailed Grouse
distribution in Washington states that although their historical range
included much of eastern Washington, they are now confined to Okanogan,
Douglas, Ferry and Lincoln counties.

Yesterday I drove the road between Washtucna and Benge and found hunter
warning signs declaring the area off limits to bird hunting due to
Sharp-tailed Grouse. The signs are identical to those found in the Foster
Creek drainage including the drawing of the grouse.

Does anyone know what the status of these birds is in this area which is in
SE Adams County, less than 2 miles from Franklin County and 5 from Whitman
County. I was amazed.
