Hi Tweeters,

Thankyou for the Narbeck postings. I finally got a chance to go yesterday and had a nice birding outing. I got to see a good enough but quick look at one of the Sora's. I have heard them before but didn't know they were the ones that made such odd noises. They remind me of the toots my nephew gave on his toy horn when he was about 3 or 4 years old.

The other highlight was 3 fledged Brown Creepers on the upper perimeter trail. They didn't look flight worthy yet as they were lined up in a row not moving except to gobble down the food their busy parents were giving them. They might be still there today, but I bet they start striking out soon. If anyone goes that way they are past the picnic table in trees near two very large stumps that flank the trail.

The wetlands are overrun with tent caterpillars and I watched one female Bullock's Oriole that was feeding happen to land next to one and she took one look at and flew off! They must taste pretty bad!

One unsettling note was a "strange man" was hanging out in a van in a little side road off the parking lot. His BO was so bad I could smell it from his van to my car. Blehh... He was parked so he could observe the trail unseen if people were walking the trail counterclockwise. I would be far more cautious next time I visit and thought it not a bad idea to mention to anyone heading that way.
