Tweeters,
The Port Townsend Marine Science Center's annual sail to Protection Island,
scheduled for this Sunday, June 29th, has recently had four (4 spots)
become available. Every summer the PTMSC offers one 6 hour sailing trip
aboard the 101' historic schooner, ADVENTURESS. Departing from Union Wharf
in downtown Port Townsend at 10 AM, onboard naturalists provide
interpretation and commentary on local birds, mammals, geology and weather.
Tufted puffins, rhinoceros auklets, thousands of gulls and bald eagles are
the predominant birds in residence at this time. Recent mammal sightings on
the island include young male elephant seals. The sail is a peaceful, quiet
voyage of natural history. Tickets are $75 per person or $70 for members of
the PTMSC, Audubon or WOS, and can be reserved by calling 1-800-566-3932 or
cruises at ptmsc.org
