Subject: Traveling with optics?

I read the latest posting on traveling with optics. My wife works for
United Airlines and all I can say is DO NOT CHECK YOUR OPTICS. I fly and
bird watch a lot on various airlines and there is no problems with taking
them on the plane. As long as they will fit in one carryon. I will check my
tripod because they could assume it as a weapon but all the optics they will
look thru or ask questions. Luggage gets tossed and stacked on top of each
other, not to mention on vary rare occasions lost. A little free advice from
