The 6/27/02 issue of The New York Review of Books has a review by Tim
Flannery on The Birds of Northern Melanesia: Speciation, Ecology, and
Biogeography by Ernst Mayr and Jared Diamond. Nice discussion of Mayr's and
Diamond's five stages in the process of speciation. this progression is
something that I had thought about and anticipated, but had never seen in
print.
I am impressed when I realize that Mayr is 98 years old and has just
published two books on evolution.
