Looking through my Leica Camera magazine I noticed that they have a digital
camera with nice capabilities and an adapter for their Leica Spotting Scope.
The digital camera is $950, the adapter is $79, and the spotting scopes range
from $745 to $1095. And yes you can preview the picture on the 2.5 inch
monitor.
One of themany advantages of this system is that you use the spotting scope
as a spotting scope in between using it as a tele lens for the camera. The
spotting scope weighs 35 ounces and is 11 inches long. Using the spotting
scope gives you a 2000 mm lens. I have usually worked with a 300, 400, or on
rare occurances a 500 (which I rented).
This is a system that I would love to experiment with.
