Many thanks to the hordes of you who replied to my question about
airline travel recently and optics (about 30 replies). The general
feeling is that carrying on optics (binos and scopes) poses no problems
- a few people were asked what they were for, but generally not much
different that before last September. There also seemed to be general
agreement that tripods were better checked - although a couple of
comments that they are better packed in luggage (more protection).

Everybody mentioned, and I agree, that optics should be carried on and
not checked. I can't stress enough how important this is. I have
traveled for years, and have never checked my optics - too much chance
for loss, breakage, or other mischief. Sound like optics as carryon has
not changed much. The only questions I have ever had is requests to look
thru the optics.

Tweeters comes thru again.
