Hi Tweeter Birders,

This is slightly off topic but a few weeks ago when I was BIRDING near Alta Lake I happened to see my first ever Western Gray Squirrel a very beautiful animal by the way. That following Monday there was an article about them in the Sea. Times (June 17). The Dept of Wildlife is very interested in sightings I found out after I tracked down two of the people mentioned in the article. So if any of you see one when you are out there birding the person to contact is Mary Linders, a Wildlife Biologist. Her email is lindemjl at dfw.wa.gov. She gave me a lot of information as well. The most likely place to see them is Klickitat county, Fort Lewis, and N. shore Lake Chelan, Methow Valley. They are larger than Eastern Gray's, their ears are more erect and they are uniformly gray, with a big bushy full tail.
