Sightings for Sunday, March 3rd

At Maplewood Conservation Area in North Vancouver a male YELLOW-HEADED
BLACKBIRD was reported (LH).

At Holly Park Lane and 148th St in North Surrey upto 15 COMMON REDPOLLS
were still visiting feeders behind building 11 (RTo).

Sightings for Saturday March 2nd

The WESTERN SCRUB-JAY was again seen in the 1900 block of
Routley Ave in Coquitlum (RTo).

At Colony Farm were 12 TREE SWALLOWS (RTo) while another TREE
SWALLOW was reported in the 6900 block of Bradner Road in Abbotsford (CB).

An immature COOPER'S HAWK was reported at St Johns Road in Port Moody (JFn).

Sightings ofr Friday, March 1st

A BLUE JAY was found in 10400 block of Allard Crescent in North Langley
(JD).

In Chilliwack a female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was reported along Central Prairie
Road near Prest Road (JO).

The following birds were found at Reifel Refuge
2 NORTHERN WATERTHRUSHES, GREAT HORNED OWLS, 17 BARN SWALLOWS,
4 TREE SWALLOWS and 1 HUTTON'S VIREO (mobs).

At Serpentine Fenn 2 BARN SWALLOWS and 1 TREE SWALLOW were reported (JAM).

At Noon's Creek Hatchery 1 AMERICAN DIPPER was found (MMc).

Sightings for Thursday, February 28th

At the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty an immature GYRFALCON was reported (LJ).

At Serpentine Fenn upto 5 TREE SWALLOWS and 1 BARN SWALLOW were reported
(JL, IK)

At Reifel there were an incredible 19 BARN SWALLOWS and 1 TREE SWALLOW
reported (JAM).

While at Colony Farm an AMERICAN BITTERN was seen (JL).

Sightings for Wednesday, February 27th

At Iona Island today a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was found amongst
12 GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS and a WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW
in the North-east Corner of the North-east Pond. Nearby in the trees
bordering
the Old Out Flow Pond was an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER (RTo).

At 148th St and Holly Park Lane the COMMON REDPOLLS were again coming to
feeders (IK).

Across the border in Northern Washington the FALCATED DUCK was again seen in
the
Samish Island area amongst many American Wigeon. For more information please

Sightings for Tuesday, February 26th

At Reifel Refuge today 12 BARN SWALLOWS and 2 TREE SWALLOWS were reported
from
the parking lot (RTo).

Meanwhile at Serpentine Fenn upto 15 BARN SWALLOWS and at least 5 TREE
SWALLOWS
were reported (CG).

In Tsawwassen at 17 A Ave and 58th St the HARRIS' SPARROW and a LINCOLN'S
SPARROW
were again seen in the field across from the intersection (NR).

In North Surrey at Holly Park Lane 40 COMMON REDPOLLS were again coming to
feeders
behind building 11 of the townhouse complex (IK).

At Iona Island an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was again reported (BSc).

Sightings for Monday, February 25th

Of interest to local birders comes word of a male FALCATED DUCK
seen with 100's of AMERICAN WIGEON near Samish Island in Washington
State on February 21st. This area is less than an hour away by car and
birders should be on the
look out in our area for this exotic duck as it migrates north. The bird has
not been relocated since
its initial first date of discovery (Tweeters e-mail group).

Locally at Beach Grove Lagoon 3 adult TREE SWALLOWS and 1 imm BARN SWALLOW
were reported near the pump house (RSw).

In the 1300 block of Corbon St. Coquitlum were 2 RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS, 2 PINE
GROSBEAKS male and female,
1 RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER and 6 BAND-TAILED PIGEONS (LT).

At the Semiahmoo Trail the male REDHEAD was again reported (PS).

At Campbell Valley Park there was a pair of RING-NECKED DUCKS (TD).

In Green Timbers Park 1 HUTTON'S VIREO was seen (TD).

Sightings for Sunday, February 24th

The adult SLATY-BACKED GULL was again present this morning
with a 1st year GLAUCOUS GULL along Hornby Dr east of 96th St (RTo).

At Holly Park Lane in North Surrey were a total of 40 COMMON REDPOLLS (RTo).

At the Semiamooh Trail Pond in South Surrey were 3 RING-NECKED DUCKS
and one REDHEAD (CG).

At Iona Island was a SHORT-EARED OWL (TPk).

At Lighthouse Park in Point Roberts Washington the following birds were
reported:
2 MARBLED MURRELETS, 1 RHINOCEROS AUKLET, a few PIGEON GUILLEMOTS
and a few COMMON MURRES (TPk).

The pair of CRESTED MYNAS were again reported from 2nd and Wylie in
Vancouver (anonymous).
