Eagles Nest
Today I explored along the West Duwamish Greenbelt in search of an eagles
nest I had heard reports about near the 8300 block of 1st Avenue South. I
found a large nest about a block north of the Hub Cap King property, but saw
no eagles there today.

However, I did find an active next in the West Duwamish Greenbelt behind the
Westbridge building at 4201 West Marginal Way SW. One bald eagle was on the
large nest and another was perched on a nearby branch. This nest may become
more difficult to see as the trees leaf out.

This nest is a couple of blocks north of the old great blue heron colony in
the greenbelt, and not far from the osprey nest on the light pole near the
Duwamish River. Must be good fishing here! The eagles nest is visible from
the parking lot at 4201 W Marginal Way SW. If you look carefully (binoculars
help) you can also see it from the northern portion of Herring's House Park.

One eagle was on a branch near the nest that is in the Duwamish Head
Greenbelt across Harbor Avenue from Salty's Restaurant.
