For those heading to SE Arizona there is an excellent map of the Southeastern Arizona Birding Trail available. It features a road map to 50 top birding sites in Pinal, Pima, Santa Cruz, Graham and Cochise counties. There is a thumbnail of each site indicating most interesting birds, facilities, etc. It is a cooperative effort of a dozen state and federal agencies in SE AZ. It is a "must" expecially for first time visitors who may not know their way around this part of the state. The color codes are helpful and the color photos are great additions, especially the Vermillion Flycatcher on the front.

I have been visiting SE AZ every year in June for the past decade, and have found this map as useful for locating prime birding areas as the Lane guide is to finding the birds at these sites.

The copies I have are labeled "courtesy of BLM Arizona State Field Office", though I could not find a source on their website. I would suggest contacting any of the following (listed as partners in this project) for a copy;
US Fish & Wildlife, Arizona State Parks, SE AZ Bird Observatory, National Park Service, Tucson Audubon Society, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, SEAGO, Pima County, US Dept. of the Interior, Tucson Parks & Recreation Dept., AZ Game & Fish Heritage Fund, US Forest Service.

I don't know if there is a charge for the map (mine were free), but it would certainly be worth it to support the SE AZ Birding Trail and the people who put it together.
