Hi Tweeters,

Julia Parrish and I are looking for one or two lab-based
volunteers/interns for our beached bird monitoring program, COASST
(Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team). I am proud to report that
130 COASST volunteers are now monitoring over 60 beaches throughout
Washington and Oregon!

Because most of our volunteers are not 'traditional birders' we seek some
Seattle-area birders to double check their data and give them feedback on
their sightings. While most of this troubleshooting happens automatically
when their data are entered via our website--human feedback is critical!
The value of a knowledgeable birder in this role cannot be
overstated.

We are based in the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences at the
University of Washington in Seattle. Members of the Parrish lab
(http://depts.washington.edu/birdfish/) are interested in various aspects
of marine conservation (especially in birds) if you think that you (or
someone you know) might be able to devote several hours per week to COASST
we would love to talk to you...

Among the potential duties are: web-based data entry, slide/photo
scanning, and corresponding with coastal volunteers. For more
information, please check out our brand new website at:

www.coasst.org

And then, please contact me via my email or phone number below. Thanks
for your interest!
