Hello Tweeters,

I'm an amateur birder and new to the list, but have enjoyed learning from the posts.

My daughter (5 yrs.) and I went "birding" together yesterday (3/15) from the car in the Carnation area. I spotted a nest on the Carnation Farm Road, east of the bridge, on the south side of the road. As I looked at it through my binoculars, an adult Red-tailed Hawk flew in and perched beside the nest. Then a fledgling popped up for a short time and then back down as the adult flew away. I don't have a spotting scope, but I'm sure it would be in range to see more details with one. We see Red-tailed Hawks out here a lot, but not usually at the nest. If anyone is interested in seeing it and needs better directions, please feel free to email me directly.

Nearby, there is a small bridge over a stream and wetland where we saw an adult male Belted Kingfisher too.

We also looked for the Carnation swans on Tolt Hill Rd. at about 10:15am, but had no luck.
