I do a lot of highway travel, and have inadvertently fed hundreds of
House Sparrows.

As my van zooms along the interstate at 73 mph, I smash into
thousands upon thousands of mayflies, monarch butterflies,
bumblebees, and other insects (talk about a destructive and invasive
species, we humans take the cake!). Then, at a rest area, a
MacDonalds parking lot, a campground, or a motel lot, the House
Sparrows congregate around the front of the van. There they
repeatedly fly or jump up to pick freshly cooked bugs off the hot
radiator--and I appreciate their service in keeping my radiator clean
:-)
