Rob,

Whale watching trips are offered off the West Coast of Vancouver Island out of Tofino.

Browse the web for Tofino sites and I'm sure you'll come up with a few hits. There are no organized Canadian pelagic trips for April that I'm aware of. The best pelagic trips on the NW Coast are run out of Westport Washington but I will let other Tweeters answer whether the are planned for in April and taking in a trip there would take up at least 2 days of your visit possibly the better part of 3 days.

The whale watching trips will get you off shore for whales and the off chance of skua, phalaropes, murrelets, kittiwakes, murres but an albatross or petrel would be a long shot. I'm told the "bird ID" skills of the whale watch guides is limited so bone up on those ID's.
